Scan the location!
 
Look for the shallowest, flat spot where you can cross. Convince yourself  that there are no large holes or stones . Also pay attention to the currents and stay away from fast flowing water. Provide a high step frequency and take into account the resistance of the water, try to keep a constant step!
 
Decide whether to drive through it or not!
 
If the water is too deep or  too murky, dismount and look for islands and hop from island to island.
 
Keep it dry!
